Batrachotomus kupferzellensis

An apex predator of the marshes of Middle Triassic Germany, Batrachotomus was a large loricatan, known from an adult specimen that was 6 meters (20 feet) in length. Like other closely related croc-line reptiles such as Prestosuchus and Heptasuchus, Batrachotomus had long limbs that were held directly under their body and a large head with jaws filled with large, cutting teeth. The name Batrachotomus roughly translates to "frog butcher"; a reference to the fact that it may have preyed on the large amphibians in it's swampy habitat at the time.
